Physical Self-defence
Breakaway Skills Training Course – 1 Day
Aim:
To provide a competent physical self-defence / breakaway training programme to improve individual judgment, skill and knowledge with regard to the use of physical force for the purpose of creating a window of opportunity to escape from a physical assault upon their person.
Objectives & Course Content:
The Definition of Workplace Violence.
Physical force as a health and safety hierarchical risk control measure and other alternative control options.
Developing physical techniques that are both appropriate and effective by understanding the physical differences between men and women and how stress affects individual ability and performance in crisis situations.
Understanding Reasonable Force as defined by UK statute case law and the Positive Obligation to preserve life as imposed by the Human Rights Act 1998.
A comprehensive introduction to the various appropriate and effective technical physical skills required for the purpose of breaking away from an assailant or defending oneself or another from a violent physical assault.
Key content includes:
Laws & Legislation (including Human Rights & Case Law examples).
Underpinning Coaching Research.
Underpinning Health and Safety research analysis.
Physical Skill Instruction.
Certification:
All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course.
Course Duration: 1 Day
Suitable for:
All staff exposed to the risk of a violent assault as identified by departmental risk assessment and therefore as designated by departmental managers.
In-House Cost: 1 Instructor = £800 per day + VAT & traveling expenses, accommodation, etc.
2 Instructors = £1200 per day + VAT & traveling expenses, accommodation, etc.
Number of Delegates:
Up to 10 delegates can be trained with 1 instructor present. Up to 20 delegates can be trained with 2 instructors present.
